Mission: Our mission is to educate and share information with individuals, families,
social service providers and schools about the multicultural, multiracial experience.
History: Bridge Communications, Inc. was founded in 1994 with the purpose of educating and integrating diversity into the lives of their participants. The strength of Bridge comes from the diverse experiences of our associates in their professional and personal lives. Bridge Communications Inc. was founded by individuals from multiracial families with professional associations to the social services/adoption community. It is through our experiences and many others personal and professional experience that these programs were created.
Our goal is to provide a safe environment to create awareness of the issues (good, bad and everything in between) around transracial adoption. We have found through our local training programs that interaction and discussion among transracial adoptive families and prospective adoptive families is enlightening and valuable in many ways.
We will introduce you to some key concepts during our classes, however on the larger scale of life, we see this as only a small part in laying the foundation. It is our hope that through this awareness you will continue your lifelong education process of being a multi-racial family. In addition, we will introduce you to many resources, tools and guides to start this journey. You will notice we work with a variety of organizations and associations throughout the U.S. to create our programs and encourage you to seek out additional information for your family and communities.
We believe transracial adoption can be an incredibly rewarding experience or frustrating depending on a variety of circumstances. As with life, there are no magic formulas for success however, initial awareness and preparation can make a world of difference.
In classes we will ask you to look at yourself, your values, motivations, community, family, environment, cultural exposure and more. We truly enjoy these programs by approaching each class with an open mind for giving and receiving information -- we hope you will too!
Philosophy: We believe awareness, education and experience directly impact one's reaction to diversity. We use an LPL approach to our training (Listen, Practice, Learn). This combines education with interactive programs and homework that support applying concepts to daily lives.
