"Being a Multiracial/Multicultural Family"

Course: "Being a Multiracial Family" is a three-part course examining diversity and how it relates to your family and your environment; role-playing situations other parents have experienced; and ways to incorporate the changes into your life. This course includes adoptive parents panel, adult adoptee panel and an extensive resource guide.

This three-part seminar is aimed at preparing prospective parents for transracial adoptions. This seminar provides a variety of perspectives on multiracial/multicultural families and transracial adoptions. It includes interactive exercises, open group discussions and the opportunity to hear from individuals living the multicultural/multiracial family experience. This course is conducted regularly in Chicago, IL. Personalized sessions are scheduled for agencies or large groups around the country.

"Being a Multiracial/Multicultural Family" (Tele-training)

Many adoption agencies understand that multiracial families are likely to face a variety of "race-related" issues in their everyday lives. We also understand that when families are prepared with tools and knowledge, the issues become minimal and allow families to focus on "being a family" and experiencing an expanded world.

In order to prepare families planning to adopt transracially who do not live in the Chicagoland area, Bridge Communications offers tele-training for multi-racial living. Tele-training is simply providing a training course via a conference call. This session is presented by Bridge Communications, Inc. an organization that has been training prospective adoptive families for over seven years. Their programs incorporate interactive training exercises along with actual experiences from members of multi-racial families.
